Funding
The Clinical Research Facility is a partnership between Newcastle University and Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. It is predominantly funded through the Department of Health’s National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) with the intention of supporting clinical innovation and research.
Other income is created through a combination of commercial and non-commercial research grants.
The NIHR spends around £1 billion each year; driving research from bed to beside, transforming research in the NHS, increasing the volume of applied health research for the benefit of patients and the public, driving faster translation of basic science discoveries into tangible benefits, developing and supporting the people who conduct and contribute to applied health research and attracting investment by the life sciences industry through its world-class facilities for health research.
Other income is created through a combination of commercial and non-commercial research grants.
