As Matron, it is my responsibility to ensure that there are appropriate systems and processes in place across the NCRF to ensure the continuity of safe and effective care at all times.
Within the remit of my role, I must ensure that environmental standards and cleanliness are maintained in line with local and national standards and that there are systems in place to monitor this.
Providing visible clinical leadership to all staff across the NCRF and wider Directorate of Clinical Research at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a fundamental part of my role.
I facilitate this by working as part of the multi-disciplinary NCRF senior leadership team to prioritise safe staffing and the highest standard of care provision for research participants who attend our facility.
I am a registered Nurse and Midwife and have extensive clinical experience across a variety of specialty areas. I have worked in Clinical Research Delivery since 2010 in roles such as Research Midwife, Team Lead and as Lead Midwife at the NIHR Clinical Research Network North East and North Cumbria. I am also Chair of the NIHR Reproductive Health and Childbirth National Research Champion Group.
