I am currently a Ward Clerk in the Newcastle Clinical Research Facility (NCRF) in the Faculty of Medical Sciences.
I have been the Ward Clerk here for the past 12 Years building the role up from scratch with the help and support of the CRF sister, there are now 2 more Ward Clerks on the CRF. I am mainly based at the nurse station providing clerical assistance to the clinical team which involves booking couriers, sending out patient information, appointment and GP letters, stock ordering, booking patient travel and accommodation and patient expenses. I take the minutes in the monthly meetings and circulate them after.
My role also involves working on the main reception desk where I welcome staff, patients and visitors to the CRF. I book appointments on both the CRF and Trust systems, book out the meeting rooms and provide clerical assistance to the wider users of the CRF.
Previous Roles
I have worked in the Trust since 1990, so over 30 years! I previously worked in the Medical Records department at the RVI before coming to the CRF.
