Who we are

The NIHR Newcastle Clinical Research Facility brings together the clinical and scientific expertise of the Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Newcastle Hospitals) and Newcastle University.

We are one of 22 Clinical Research Facilities across England awarded the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Facility designation to support delivery of early phase clinical trials, experimental medicine studies and other complex studies that could not be delivered in the routine settings of the NHS.

The NIHR Newcastle CRF offers expertise in a broad range of disease areas at our four research units:

Our aim is to support effective delivery of high-quality, cutting-edge early phase and experimental medical research by providing a state-of-the-art facility and specialist workforce and knowledge. We work closely with our patient and public partners as well as academic and commercial organisations within a national framework of UKCRFs and other NIHR infrastructure, putting our patients at the forefront of everything we do.

We are focused on delivering high-quality, cutting-edge experimental medical research.
